Kuba Dąbrowski – To drink cola with you

Kuba Dąbrowski was born on 28.12.1980 in Bialystok. He is a photographer but he also makes movies, records sounds and writes texts. He is a graduate in sociology at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland (2004) and in photography (Institute of Creative Photography, Opava, Czech Republic, 2004). He works as photographer and a picture editor for Przekrój magazine and contributes his free-lance photographic and journalistic work to such publications as “VIVA”, “Exclusive”, “Machina” and “Die Zeit”.

Kuba Dąbrowski is engaged in both commercial activity and his own projects. A sociological and photographic project “Crucial questions”, which consists of cycles “What makes you angry” and “Favourite songs”, was displayed in numerous solo exhibitions (Arsenal Gallery in Bialystok, Szuszu in Warsaw, Platan in Budapest and ZERO in Berlin) and in group exhibitions (Art Fair in Poznań, “Poland Now” at the Krakow’s Photo Month in Krakow).

The other project titled „Fauna and flora”, was presented in the group exhibition “Horizon of Collisions” at the Art Fair in 2005 in Poznan (curator Marek Wasilewski) as a part of Krakow’s Photo Month and in Marios Left Tanker gallery in Tokyo.

The films of Kuba Dąbrowski were seen in the exhibitions: „Kleine Mädchen” in Kulturbraurei in Berlin, “The worst Pictures Ever Taken” in F.A.I.T. gallery in Krakow and on solo presentation „Everything” in Point Gallery in Tokyo.

Recently he has became interested in a photographic autobiography. As a result of these interests, there were exhibitions: “89/98” in ZOO Gallery in Warsaw, “Pals” (with Karol Radziszewski) in ZPAF and S-KA GALLERY in Krakow,”I would like to die like James Dean” at the 6 International Photo Festival in Lodz, ”Trist Karaoke” in H’Art Gallery in Bucharest. Kuba Dąbrowski also participated in the group documentary project: ”Ex Oriente Lux” (Arsenal Gallery, 2003) and organized by Imago Mundi Foundation ”Małopolska. Photographs. Unclarified” (Main Market Square in Krakow, 2006)
