MILENA KOROLCZUK. Nostalgia of now

I would like to present an exhibition, which includes photographs, object and videos. It relates to my attempts to determine my place. It is about nostalgia connected with a feeling of luck, a search for continuity and an intensity of experience.

It is very difficult to reach and complete lack of something. It is important to mention here that you cannot observe the lack itself, empty reality. If we can see anything, it is always the information derived from the bodies (people or objects) in this reality. Even the ‘empty’ space is empty, but between specific bodies (people or objects ) that we can observe freely. And the observation of these bodies, their features gives us an idea of the scale of the absence.

I invited people to join and participate in particular activities. They do not normally deal with art, but they represent reality which is close to me. The counterpoint to the actions in which they take part, are my suggestions, and the rest belongs to their own interpretation. Due to the fact that the attitudes and experiences of those people are close to mine, a kind of self-statement is created.

With regard to the exhibition title – why nostalgia of now ? Because for me, the past is the not-so-long presence, when I was just as confused as I am now.
