CLAUDIO MOSER – Odpowiedzą sowy
CLAUDIO MOSER
Born in 1959, in Aarau, Switzerland. He lives and works in Geneva. In 1984 he graduated from the Ecole supérieure d'art Visuel in Genève. His photographs often address relationships between past and present as embedded within architecture and landscape. In Moser’s work, nothing is clearly formulated and no viewpoint is specific or obvious.
“Claudio’s works belong to those artistic works where, for instance, a father might be inclined to make the statement that his child would also have been able to do that in this way. And nonetheless – nobody but Claudio creates these photographs. One often looks at the photographs from that. That’s one thing. But there exists another dimension, one begins to enter the picture gradually and wonders what is there and what isn’t, what could be there. What fascinates me about Claudio’s art is that there exist things in the depth that the picture doesn’t show and one automatically starts to ponder, what more the creator might have seen there. There exists a presence that exceeds the purely imaginary present.
(…)
Claudio makes the effort to photograph certain things at all. I believe that earlier I’ve passed by many of these things without noticing them. This is less the case today, because I know Claudio’s photos. I can explain it with an example. Sometime ago was at Claudio’s studio and had a look at his photographs. Shortly after that I traveled to Abu Dhabi and was in a construction site there, where there were cloths hanging on the scaffolding – very similar to ones in one of the Claudio’s photos. I’ve probably seen them before but never noticed in that way. And Claudio is an eye-opener there. One acquires a keen perception by this training. And also a greater depth of focus. There are very many of Claudio’s pictures which function in layers. One can look onto these layers as a voyeur. One acquires a notion that there is still something to be discovered.”
