Slow Art Day
The reasearchers say that the average amount of time a visitor spends looking at art is about 8 seconds. It’s just too little. Visit a gallery and/or museum and pay your attention only on five works.Each piece has its own story to tell.
According to statistical research, an average museum-goer spends eight seconds looking at each artwork. It’s because while visiting a gallery we feel pressed to look at all the pieces presented at the exhibition. As a consequence, we race through all exhibition rooms without any reflection, feel sore and exhausted. To make matters worse, we do not remember nor understand what we have just seen. The remedy for this passive and tiring experience is Slow Art.
It unlocks passion and creativity and helps to create more art lovers.
Slow Art Day is a social action that has been organized since 2011 to help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art.
The institution taking part in the action chooses five works of art presented at current temporary or/and permanent exhibition. On 23 April 2016 between 12.00 – 13.00 visitors will be guided by our “Pilots” who will be talking about each chosen artwork.
After an hour of experiencing art the visitors meet over a cuo of coffee or tea to talk about their experiences

This year Natalia Tur, called Nishka, a popular blogger from Białystok will be a special guest and will talk about the work by Konrad Smoleński “The End of Radio”, 2012. The action will be also guided by Monika Szewczyk, Magdalena Godlewska-Siwerska, Ewa Borowska and Sylwia Narewska from Galeria Arsenał who will introduce other works: “Self-portrait” by Tomasz Mróz, 2006; Dreamland Donbas (fragment) by Viktor Marushchenko, 2004; “Woman in Mask” by Anna Baumgart, 2006; “Three the most venerable sisters born…” by Marek Kijewski, 1994.

Po godzinie wolnego zwiedzania, czyli około godz. 13:00, zapraszamy wszystkich na niezobowiązujące spotkanie, również w Galerii Arsenał elektrowni, gdzie będziemy mogli napić się kawy, przegryźć coś słodkiego i opowiedzieć o swoich wrażeniach.
