ELŻBIETA JABŁOŃSKA Born in 1970 in Olsztyn. A graduate of the Department of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, diploma in graphic arts in 1995. Since 1996 she has been an assistant in the Drawing Division of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun. In 2004 she obtained PhD in Fine Arts. In 2002 she was a scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture, was nominated to “Paszport Polityki” award. In 2003 Jabłońska received the “Spojrzenia (Views) 2003” Award of the Cultural Foundations of the Deutsche Bank. She realizes mainly installations and performances. The art of Elżbieta Jabłońska offers an ironic commentary on the status and role of women in Poland, interweaving women’s everyday activities into art in a good-natured way. In her works, the artist uses and transforms cultural stereotypes and clichés associated with the notion of woman and femininity, playing an intelligent game with them, but full of humor and warmth.

An exhibition of Elżbieta Jabłońska in the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine will constitute the summary of workshops carried out for students of the Kiev Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. The installation will be developed both in a context of the architecture and space of the Academy but it will also concern its past. The exhibition is inseparably connected with a notion Violation, that is artist’s intervention into architectural and social context of the Academy. The space transformation will not be its only result. The project is a new chapter in the activity of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine as well as the result of collaboration between students and foreign lecturer.

“VIOLATION” will be the main theme of the workshop, understood in a multithreaded and multidimensional way: violation of space, object, idea; ostentatious , unnoticeable violation; breach by adding or removing; violation by intervention or negligence, and besides, infringement of possession / ownership / property, privacy, communication, image, convention, schema. A broad understanding without restriction is important to have the pejorative sense
