ARTIST IN RESIDENCE GALERIA ARSENAŁ: Katya Libkind

In October and November 2025, the Arsenal Gallery in Białystok will host Katya Libkind, a Ukrainian artist, set designer and co-founder of atelienormalno – a studio for artists with and without Down syndrome. Her stay is part of the ARTIST IN RESIDENCE GALERIA ARSENAŁ programme.
Libkind’s practice turns to deep introspection and contemplation of her surroundings. Her graphics, installations and videos are based on proceduralism, radical honesty and direct emotional experience. In her works, the artist addresses themes of personal and social boundaries and attitudes, as well as normality and beauty. She is inspired by contradictions, doubts and intuition, along with the world of dreams.
Visitors to the Arsenal Gallery in Białystok had the opportunity to see Libkind’s works at the group exhibition ‘Observe This Moment – How It Convulses’ at the Arsenal Gallery power station in 2024. It was followed by a presentation of atelienormalno at the exhibition ‘Common Landscape / Greeting a Stranger’, also at the power station, in early 2025.
Katia Libkind’s residency at the Arsenal Gallery in Białystok is part of the preparations for the artist’s upcoming solo exhibition, scheduled for 2026.
