Arsenal Playground – workshop proposal
Art Processors – a lot of things, seemingly unnecessary, can be processed so as to serve us again.
What about creating a monster pencil case (necessary to keep your drawing tools) from milk bottles or making unusual musical instruments out of plastic bottles? We will have fun and create something out of things we no longer need. We will give them a second chance!
Paintings – coincidences – Does a coincidence determine the way our artwork look like? What about throwing a dice before starting work? The participants will invent rules of a game. There won’t be any losers! We know it all for sure. The workshop will be inspired by the work of Ryszard Winiarski from the Collection of Galeria Arsenal.
A thought and a matter, that is, textured painting – How to illustrate thoughts and emotions? together we will search for answers to this question. We will consider whether a painting should be flat, we will discuss the issue of texture and the matter of painting. An exhibition will stimulate us to create unique painting compositions.
Art at the table – the workshop aims to familiarize children with a concept of food design. We will think whether the way the table and prepared dishes look is important for us. Do more visually appealing dishes taste better? Who “designs” food? Do people around the world eat the same dishes? We will have more questions and even more fun. However, it will not be a culinary workshop. In accordance with ecological approach to our work, we will use seemingly unnecessary materials, which are called by some people as trash.
Young Pollock – during activities children will become familiar with the artist Jackson Pollock and create their own artwork using his technique. We will drip, splash, jump with paintbrush in hand. How to get to know abstract expressionism in other way?!
Underwater world – take the plunge into an underwater world and check a pet with an odd-sounding name Abramis brama or Blicca bjoerkna. And how does Aurelia aurita look like? Come and paint portrait of your deep sea creature. Thanks to your imagination a tour of the exhibition will become a journey full of interesting facts!
CON-NECT-ED – a series of workshops accompanying current exhibitions. While visiting an exhibition, we will trace the relationships between artworks at the exhibition. We will explore whether the artworks are similar, were created using the same technique, or are completely different. Does the topic of artworks connect them in some way or divide? We will compare the title of artwork with its meaning, and see if they have something in common. We will also try to find something that unites us. We look for common elements. Or maybe it turns out that we are completely different from each other?
